Deep Thoughts?

Today I saw a tiny little dead bird as I was walking down the street and I felt bad for the little thing. Later I saw a half eaten wing of fried chicken next to a trash can and I was struck by the fact that I felt nothing for that bird. What was the difference -- why did I feel nothing for the chicken? Is it because chicken is delicious?

You should have tried envisioning the dead little bird ... deep fried by the Colonel.

Actually it was because you didn't see the chicken's eyeballs. If the fried chicken still had eyeballs, you wouldn't have thought it looked delicious. Or if it was deep-fried with its feathers still on.

I've got a funny story about the feathers but I'll just say that miraculously I still think fried chicken is delicious and leave it at that.

does that story involve a Wendy's chicken nugget that was fried with a feather still attached? cause if that is your story, then that is gonna make me vomit.

All this talk reminds me of my solution for endangered animals: make them delicious. Seriously, does anyone really think that chickens or cows will ever be endangered? No, never. Because they're delicious we have a real incentive to make sure they're around for a long time. This really deserves its own post.

No, the story involves a bucket of fried Chicken from Kentucky Fried Chicken in Provo, Utah. I don't eat chicken nuggets precisely because you would never find the feathers attached -- they're already ground up in the nugget.

Good idea about making the endangered animals delish. I have a feeling that Martha Stewart may somehow connected to this on some level...

I just hit a bird a few weeks ago driving home to St. George. I felt bad too but it sounds like maybe I should have picked it up and fried it up for dinner. Yum Yum
